California Adventure will also be adding a Little Mermaid Ride, a new Cars Land, and a Nighttime Spectacular!

As I walked past the back of California Adventure a couple of weeks ago I wondered what they were building. Well know I know - it must be the new Little Mermaid attraction. Not many details have been revealed but Disney promises a ride with animation and special effects, and a Mermaid Grotto play area.

There will also be a whole new 12 acre Cars Land. A new ride, Radiator Springs Races is promised - described as the characters finding themselves in an exciting race around hairpin turns and steep banks. There will also be 2 other rides, and a Cars Land Drive- In Restaurant. This new restaurant promises to have guests served by roller skating wait staff while they enjoy their meal seated in an automobile.

Cars Land is going to connect the Hollywood Pictures Backlot with Paradise Pier - so you will be able to walk around to that area on an alternative route.

There is more! A new Nighttime Spectacular - in a 9,000 person viewing area. This show will have water effects, dancing fountains and music. I wonder if it will be something like the seating area for Fantasmic ( this only holds 6,000 people though so this new one is going to be huge)!

This all looks amazing and I am thinking that most of it can be built without disruption to the rest of the park - as it will be built around the edges. I do wonder how they are going to make the changes to the entrance plaza though. The only problem with all of this? It is going to be really busy when they make these changes - and almost impossible to get a reservation in one of the Disney hotels!
