Wall-e Toys

June 18th, 2008 Alison Posted in Disney Movies, Disney World Florida, Disneyland California No Comments »

The Wall-e movie is going to be the big hit of the summer. And the toys and books are already a big hit with my family. Even my 2 year old who doesn’t know many words but he can say Wall-e.

Already the toys are a hot commodity and can be difficult to find. If it is like this before the Wall-e movie is released just imagine how it will be this summer and particularly Christmas time.

The Wall-e movie promises to be another great Disney Pixar hit. The story is that humans have messed up the earth so much they have to leave the planet and wait for the robots to clean it up. But the robots aren’t very well designed and they all break down. Except for Wall-e.

A lot of you will know that I write as EverythingMouse on Squidoo. I am really proud to say that I am a finalist in the Squidoo eBay Challenge competition with my Wall-e movie feature. The prize is to be featured in a speech by Seth Godin at the eBay Conference.

You will find all the latest Wall-e toys, video clips and movie trivia, as well as information on how to find the difficult to get Wall-e and Eve interactive robot toys.

Disney World Character Dining

March 28th, 2008 Alison Posted in Disneyland California No Comments »

Who would you like to dine with on your Walt Disney World vacation? Mickey Mouse, a Disney Princess or perhaps Alice in Wonderland? Disney World character dining is a very popular choice. But is it for you?

A Walt Disney World character meal is a unique experience for you and your family. There is simply no other place to dine with Cinderella and Mickey Mouse! It is a great chance for you to get plenty of time with your favorite Disney World characters and it is an experience that all the family, whatever their age, will remember for a long time as one of the highlights of their Disney World vacation

There is a great variety of Disney World character dining choices. From breakfast to brunch, dinner to lunch. Disney character meals are buffet, menu or family style ( where all you can eat choices are brought to your table). The quality of the food is generally high. It is often more expensive to dine in a Disney World character restaurant than elsewhere in the theme park for comparable food – but you are paying for the unique experience too. After all it isn’t every day you get to dine with a Disney Princess.

Decide which Disney characters you would like to see. A very popular choice is the Disney Princess dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Here you will get to dine in Cinderella’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom. An amazing experience but remember to book as early as you can as it is very popular. Another way to see your favorite Disney Princess is to go to the Akershus Princess Royal Dining in the EPCOT theme park. Here you will usually find at least four or five of your favorite Disney Princesses at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Perhaps Mickey Mouse is more your style. A great place to find him is Chef Mickey’s in the Disney World Contemporary Resort on your way to Magic Kingdom.

If your want to see a particular character always check before you go to see that they are appearing that particular time – a lot of the restaurants do have a fixed schedule of characters, but they do sometimes change. Try not to make a promise to your child that they will see a particular Disney character as they may be disappointed if it is Cinderella’s day off!

Remember that sometimes actually meeting a Disney character can be a little overwhelming for your child. All the Disney characters are excellent at winning over a nervous child and also knowing when it is time to leave, but be sensitive to your child’s feelings about this. Meeting a life size Winnie The Pooh for the first time can be too much for your toddler!

To go ahead and book a Disney World character dining experience it is advisable to book ahead by calling 407 WDW DINE to make an Advance Dining Reservation. You can call up to 180 days ahead and for some experiences such as Cinderella’s Royal Table it really is advisable to call as far ahead as you possibly can. Disney World character dining is a great experience and it is very popular!

Disney Pledges to Help California Fire Victims

November 1st, 2007 Alison Posted in Disneyland California 2 Comments »

I was evacuated from my home last week as a result of the California fires. It was a very scary experience – and I will always be thankful that my family and friends are safe. Many others were not so fortunate.

So it is good to hear that the Walt Disney Company has pledged to contribute $2 million to restore burned areas and help victims of the Southern California wildfires.

Disney said it would provide $200,000 in donations to the American Red Cross for immediate relief efforts.

The rest of the money would be distributed later on a case-by-case basis to groups for rebuilding and restoration efforts, which might include replanting trees or replacing burned parks and community centers.

New Little Mermaid Ride, Cars Land and Nighttime Spectacular

October 19th, 2007 Alison Posted in Disneyland California No Comments »

California Adventure will also be adding a Little Mermaid Ride, a new Cars Land, and a Nighttime Spectacular!

As I walked past the back of California Adventure a couple of weeks ago I wondered what they were building. Well know I know – it must be the new Little Mermaid attraction. Not many details have been revealed but Disney promises a ride with animation and special effects, and a Mermaid Grotto play area.

There will also be a whole new 12 acre Cars Land. A new ride, Radiator Springs Races is promised – described as the characters finding themselves in an exciting race around hairpin turns and steep banks. There will also be 2 other rides, and a Cars Land Drive- In Restaurant. This new restaurant promises to have guests served by roller skating wait staff while they enjoy their meal seated in an automobile.

Cars Land is going to connect the Hollywood Pictures Backlot with Paradise Pier – so you will be able to walk around to that area on an alternative route.

There is more! A new Nighttime Spectacular – in a 9,000 person viewing area. This show will have water effects, dancing fountains and music. I wonder if it will be something like the seating area for Fantasmic ( this only holds 6,000 people though so this new one is going to be huge)!

This all looks amazing and I am thinking that most of it can be built without disruption to the rest of the park – as it will be built around the edges. I do wonder how they are going to make the changes to the entrance plaza though. The only problem with all of this? It is going to be really busy when they make these changes – and almost impossible to get a reservation in one of the Disney hotels!

Disney’s $1.1 Billion Spending Spree in California

October 19th, 2007 Alison Posted in Disneyland California No Comments »

Toy Story ManiaDisney World Orlando is my first love – but Disneyland California comes a close second. So I am very excited by the news that Disney is to completely revamp it’s California Adventure Park. I enjoy the park at the moment but like many people, think that it could be so much more. Well on reading the new plans and seeing the artwork I think perhaps Disney fans dreams will come true.

Already in production is the Toy Story Mania! interactive ride which will open in summer 2008.

Other plans? A new entrance plaza which will also feature a Walt Disney Story attraction which will showcase his experiences and legacy in California. Disney promises this will be an interactive attraction. We will also be seeing Red Car trolleys traveling up and down the main street – I guess something like Main Street in Disneyland. Also promised are new dining and shopping experiences.

Choose Your Disney Dream

October 8th, 2007 Alison Posted in Disney World Florida, Disneyland California No Comments »

Want to spend a little time dreaming? I have just spent some very happy time browsing Disney’s new Year of a Million Dreams 2008 catalog!

This Disney giveaway has been extended into 2008 and they have some amazing prizes.

Disney’s private island for a day, lead the parade in Florida, California, Paris and Hong Kong on a 15 night vacation, behind the scenes with an Imagineer, stay in Walt’s Suite at Disneyland California. Just a few of the many dreams that those lucky winners will enjoy.

Which one would I choose? Difficult one this. Probably the New Year’s Eve in Cinderellas Magic Castle Suite. It is my birthday on New Years Day so what better way to celebrate. That really would be my dream come true.

What would my daughter like? To go to the High School Musical 3 premiere. Just when you thought HSM2 hype was over here we are planning the next one.

Spend some dreaming time and browse though the catalog………

Jedi Training Academy – A Trip To The Dark Side

October 4th, 2007 Alison Posted in Disney World Florida, Disneyland California 1 Comment »

Always wanted to be a Jedi? Duel it out with Darth Vader and Darth Maul? Well now your children have the chance – sorry you just have to sit back and watch!

Just back from a great trip to Disneyland and one of the highlights was the Jedi Training Academy which I have not seen before. It is coming soon to Disney World at MGM Studios so I can’t wait to see it there too.

All the family are huge Star Wars fans so the chance for the children to actually get up there on stage with Darth Vader was too good to miss. The whole idea is that the ‘chosen’ children are taught some really simple light saber tricks and get to fight against the Dark Side. Around 25 children are picked. We went twice and my daughter managed to get picked both times ( my 5 year old son was hiding as Darth Vader up close was a little too much for him)!

How did she get picked? By arriving about 15 minutes early ( it wasn’t busy at the park), being near the front, and jumping up and down a lot when they asked for volunteers! Another tip is to wear a Star Wars t shirt or costume. They are of course conveniently sold near the stage!

The show was even better than I had hoped. The Jedi Training Master was excellent, and Darth Vader and Darth Maul were amazing. An absolute must for Star Wars fans out there. Just a pity that you have to be a child to get up there…………………
